#TeamNoventiz initiative: Clothing donations for Earth Day
Did you know that the textile industry is the third largest consumer of water? More than 93 billion cubic metres of water are used annually for textile production. This year’s Earth Day, with “water” as its central theme, aimed to raise awareness about the sustainable use of resources. Climate protection campaigns were organised in over 150 countries around the world.
We at Noventiz also took part.
Collecting, sorting and donating clothes
We thoroughly searched our wardrobes for clothes in good condition, collected and sorted them out. In just three days, we were able to collect seven large bags of clothing, mostly for children and women, which we donated to the “Veedelsschrank”. This initiative of the church community in the Cologne-Sülz neighbourhood supports economically disadvantaged families and the integration of refugee women through work opportunities. It also promotes sustainability by recycling and upcycling clothing. The children’s clothing was donated to the Leverkusen community foundation Sterntaler, which supports children and young people in need.
Conserving resources through regional community involvement
By donating clothes to local charities, we promote the regional reuse of textiles and help to save valuable resources such as water and CO2 emissions. The large amount of clothing that we have sorted out and no longer need shows us the importance of using our resources consciously. By rethinking our consumption habits and making a conscious effort to reuse clothes, we are actively helping to reduce the amount of textiles that land in the bin and can continue to be used instead.
Sustainability at the heart of our services
Environmental protection and sustainability are an integral part of our business philosophy. Many similar activities were carried out in the Reconomy family for this year’s Earth Day in order to assume social responsibility together as part of society and to realize our vision of a sustainable world.
We’re experts in packaging licensing, all types of take-back solutions and the assessment of recyclability in accordance with Section 21 of the German Packaging Act (VerpackG).
